CMSF Scholar Bowl Team

The Carrier Mills-Stonefort scholar bowl team (ranked 7th out of 30 IHSA Class A teams in this year’s regional coaches poll) split matches today against Greater Egyptian Conference champion and 3rd ranked Galatia. 

After Galatia took a commanding 90-10 lead in the 7th round of 24, the varsity Wildcats clawed back and led 140-120 after 20 rounds. But the Bearcats closed the match on a 60-0 run, winning 180-140. The varsity Wildcats drop to 8-4 on the season. 

All-conference sophomore Jade Nalley (pictured on the right) led the Wildcats with 70 points. Senior captain Kaylee Horn, junior Brianna Cullers, and junior Devyn Valdez each scored 20. Freshman Brayden Kirk scored 10.

The junior varsity Wildcats (9-3) won 250-120 over the JV Bearcats. 

Freshman Lilian Crawford (pictured on the left) and freshman Brayden Harmon (pictured in the center) each scored 100 points. 

Kirk scored 30 in the JV match, freshman Elijah Cummins scored 10, and freshman Hailli Dietzel scored the first 10 points of her scholar bowl career. 

The Wildcats are preparing for the March 6 IHSA Class A regional, at a location to be determined.
