Scholar Bowl

The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School Scholar Bowl team (2-0) started its season strong Wednesday with a doubleheader sweep of Crab Orchard. The Wildcats won both matches at home over the Trojans, with scores of 180-70 and 170-80. 

In the first match, 2023 GEC all-conference junior Jade Nalley paced the Wildcats with 130 points. Sophomore Lilian Crawford scored 30, senior captain Brianna Cullers scored 10, and junior Carson VanDyke scored 10 points in his scholar bowl debut. 

In the second match, Cullers led the Wildcats with 60 points. Nalley scored 50, Crawford scored 30, VanDyke scored 20, and sophomore Brayden Kirk scored 10. 

The junior varsity Wildcats (0-2) dropped both ends of their doubleheader to the JV Trojans. Crab Orchard won the JV doubleheader by scores of 120-100 and 220-120.

Kirk, VanDyke, and sophomore Brayden Harmon each scored 30 points in the first match, and sophomore JV captain Taylor Dombrow scored 10.

In the second match, Kirk led the JV Cats with 40 points, Harmon and VanDyke each scored 30, and sophomore Bailee Odum scored 20 points in her scholar bowl debut. 

The Wildcats will hit the road next Tuesday, November 14 for a match at Gallatin County.
