Scholar Bowl

The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School varsity scholar bowl team extended its winning streak to seven with a 150-130 win over the Hardin County Cougars (6-3) on February 9. The junior varsity Wildcats also beat the JV Cougars by a score of 210-120. The Wildcats are now 13-2 on the season and in 1st place in the Greater Egyptian Conference. Carrier Mills is also ranked 5th out of 29 local teams in its IHSA Class A sectional region. 

Trailing 80-50 to start the 8th round of 24, the varsity Wildcats grabbed the lead 100-80 in the 10th round and held it the rest of the game. Junior Jade Nalley led the Wildcats with 90 points in the varsity match. Senior captain Brianna Cullers scored 30, and sophomores Lilian Crawford, Brayden Harmon, and Bailee Odum each scored 10. 

The JV Wildcats led throughout their entire match, jumping out to a 30-0 lead in the 1st round. Harmon led the JV team with 90 points. Sophomore JV captain Taylor Dombrow scored a career-high 50, and sophomore Brayden Kirk also scored 50. Odum and fellow sophomore Madie Shafer each scored 10. The Wildcats are off until next Thursday, Feb. 15, when they travel to Norris City-Omaha-Enfield (11-7) for a varsity doubleheader.
