Green Toy Soldiers

Here is a message from Mrs. Allyson Ryan, CMSF Grade School Prevention Specialist:

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

I wanted to take a minute to share with you our next service project. This project will reach several in our communities and those around us. This is one that each person can be involved in, individuals and communities alike.

We have recently learned of local service members that have been called to be deployed. Not only that but we have several that are connected to our community that is already serving overseas or are on high alert to do so. We want to support all of our local service member and their families as this is a very trying time for all of them.

In honor of our service members as well as their families, we have a new service project that we are preparing to launch. I will begin selling toy soldiers at the Grade School and Mrs. Emma Lane will sell them at the High School. You can purchase a toy soldier for $1.00 each. We will then use all of the money made from the toy soldiers to make care packages to send to our service members. Our High School Service Clubs as well as our Grade School/Junior High students will be putting the care packages together.

It is my hope that we can make this a community wide project and not just school wide. If any local groups, organizations, or businesses would like to purchase soldiers to help with the care packages, please let me know and I will get those to you. You can proudly display your soldiers in your place of business and help spread the word.

In addition to selling the soldiers, please email me at aryan@cmsfcats.org or call the Grade School (618-994-2413) or Mrs. Lane at the High School (618-994-2392) if you have a family member that is currently active. We would love to send love and support to all of our service members. If you would like to make a donation toward the purchase of supplies for care packages, please contact us as well.

I will have a limited number of soldiers in the next few days but by Monday, January 20, I will have plenty. If you order and I do not have any at the time, I will add you to a list and you will receive it as soon as I have them back in stock. I hope that we have a hard time keeping them. I want to make a success out of this and support all of our service members at the same time.

Thank you again for your support of our Wildcats and our communities.

Sincerely,

Allyson Ryan, BSW Prevention Specialist
