The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School varsity scholar bowl team won its third straight match December 17 at Gallatin County, 360-210. The Wildcats are now 6-1 on the season.
Jumping out to a 130-0 lead after five rounds of 24, the Wildcats were led by senior captain Jade Nalley with 250 points. Senior Mortikai Celestino scored 30, senior Carson VanDyke scored 30, junior Brayden Kirk scored 30, and junior Bailee Odum scored 20.
“Between both teams, only one of the 24 toss-up questions was missed,” said Wildcats coach Burke Wasson. “This was the highest combined score I’ve seen this year and two very good teams. The difference was us getting off to a hot start.”
The junior varsity Wildcats (2-5) dropped their match to the JV Hawks, 210-130. Freshman captain Khloe Kidd led the JV Wildcats with 60 points. Freshman Summer Janaskie scored 40, freshman Maddison Ellis scored 20, and sophomore Olivia Hunt scored 10.
The Wildcats scholar bowl team is off until Thursday, Jan. 9, when they play at home against Hardin County.
