CMSF Scholar Bowl Team

The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School Scholar Bowl teams extended their winning streak at Pope County on December 13. The Varsity Wildcats won their third in a row, and the junior varsity team earned their fourth straight win. Each team is now 6-2 on the season. 

After trailing 70-30 through 10 rounds of 24, the varsity Wildcats (6-2) tied the match 110-110 in the 17th round. From there on, the varsity Cats went on a 90-0 run through the last eight rounds, pillaging the Pirates 200-110.

Sophomore Jade Nalley led the varsity Wildcats with 70 points.  Senior captain Kaylee Horn scored 40 by answering every math quadrant question correctly in the 11th round. Freshman Lilian Crawford scored 30, freshman Elijah Cummins scored 20, junior Devyn Valdez scored 20, junior Brianna Cullers scored 10, and sophomore Cadence Boaz scored 10.

Tied 40-40 in the 8th round of 24, the JV Cats (6-2) took the lead and never looked back, winning 170-110 over the JV Pirates. 

Crawford led the JV Wildcats with 60 points, freshman captain Brayden Harmon scored 40, freshman Brayden Kirk scored 40, Cummins scored 30, and Boaz scored 10.

The scholar bowl team is off until January 11, when Pope County will visit Carrier Mills. The Wildcats will then travel on January 12 to Galatia for road matches.
