Scholar Bowl

In two close Scholar Bowl matches  with Pope County on January 11, the Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School Scholar Bowl teams earned a split. The Junior Varsity Wildcats (7-2) won their fifth straight match, beating the JV Pirates 270-220. But the varsity Pirates snapped the varsity Wildcats’ three-game winning streak, winning 150-100, dropping the varsity Wildcats to 6-3 on the season.

Trailing 210-190 with four rounds to go, the JV Wildcats closed out the match on a 80-10 run.
Freshman Brayden Kirk led the JV Wildcats with a career-high 100 points. Freshman Lilian Crawford scored 80, freshman Brayden Harmon scored 50, sophomore Cadence Boaz scored 30, and freshman Elijah Cummins scored 10.

Facing their toughest questions of the regular season, the varsity Wildcats eked out 100 points in their 150-100 loss.

Sophomore Jade Nalley led the varsity Wildcats with 50 points. Junior Brianna Cullers scored 30, senior captain Kaylee Horn scored 10, and Crawford scored 10. 

The Scholar Bowl Wildcats are back at it tomorrow morning, traveling to Galatia to play the Bearcats, who are ranked first in the Greater Egyptian Conference.
