Carrier Mills-Stonefort Elementary School will host our spring open house on Thursday, March 6. The open house will be from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm and will also include a taco bar for our Wildcats and their families in the cafeteria. The book fair will be open in the library with all proceeds helping fund new books for our school and classroom libraries. Many of you have also reserved spots to view the star lab in the gym. Each classroom teacher will have projects completed by your children in their classrooms. We hope you can join us for our open house!

If your child participated in the Young Author's Contest, on Wednesday, March 5 at 1:30 pm, we would like to invite you to honor the participants of our Young Authors Program. At this time, we will present awards to students who participated in our program, as well as award the 1st-3rd place winners from Kindergarten-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, and 6th-8th grade and best illustrations for each grade group. The deadline for turning in Young Authors Books has been moved to Tuesday, February 25. The books must be turned into your child's teacher on Tuesday at 8:00 am. We will be judging the books on Tuesday so any book turned in after 8:00 am on Tuesday will not be judged. We hope moving the deadline encourages a few more students to participate in our program.

Due to the potential snow event starting Tuesday afternoon, the Carrier Mills-Stonefort School District will have an early dismissal tomorrow at 1:45 pm. This way our students will be home before the snow event begins. The CMSF administration will continue to monitor the weather and will provide you with updates as soon as they are available. Specifically the possibility of a snow event of 1-2 inches in the early morning hours. Again, school will be dismissed tomorrow, February 18 at 1:45 pm, and all evening events will be canceled.

Recently, one of our Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School seniors was involved in a car accident. Senior Brayden Skaggs is currently recovering from his injuries and we would like to let him know that we are thinking of him and hoping for a speedy recovery. So, on Friday, February 14, all students, faculty, staff, and administration will be asked to wear red and/or a hat in support of Brayden. Also, we are asking that you bring a $1.00 donation to be given to the Skaggs' family. We will see everyone tomorrow dressed in their Red for Brayden!

This is just a reminder, but all Carrier Mills-Stonefort students are encouraged to wear maroon tomorrow in support of the Cobden community who lost a student last weekend. The Grade School students can wear caps/hats or wear maroon and the High School students may wear maroon tomorrow. We will also collect donations to present to the family at the basketball game at Cobden this Saturday, February 8. Please help us show our support to the Cobden community tomorrow. Attention Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School Class of 2025: This Friday, February 7 is our final home basketball game and it will be the Class of 2025 Senior Night. We have been informed that Shawnee does not have a JV team, so the Varsity game will begin at 5:30 pm. All Seniors and their parents/guardians should be at the game at 5:00 pm. Once you are at the game, you will meet outside Mrs. Craig's room with your parents/guardians for pictures. Next, you will line up outside Mr. DeNeal's room with your parents. On Thursday, February 6 the Carrier Mills-Stonefort Grade School will support the family of a Cobden student who passed suddenly over the weekend by wearing caps or crazy hats/caps. To participate in Crazy Caps for Cam, we are asking for a $1.00 donation, which will go to the student's family. Attention Wildcat Community: The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School Basketball team will travel to Cobden this Saturday, February 8 to play the Cobden Appleknockers in their Homecoming Game at 12:00 pm. As you may have heard, Cobden lost a High School student over the weekend. To show our support to the Cobden community, we are encouraging our students, faculty, staff, and administration to wear maroon on Thursday, February 6. The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School Cheerleaders will be hosting a Pink Out Themed Kiddie Clinic during the Pink Out Game on Tuesday, February 4th. Forms have been passed out and are due on Friday, January 24. The clinic practices will be on Wednesday, January 29 and Monday, February 3 from 3:15-4:45 at the grade school. The clinic is open to students in grades Pre-K- 5th grade. The performance will be at halftime of both the JV and varsity games on Tuesday, February 4.
