Attention : Baseball and Softball Parents The junior high baseball and softball teams are playing at Pope County tomorrow. The bus will leave at 2:45. If parents prefer to drive their own child to the game, they may do that. All players must be at the field by 3:45. We will be allowing parents to drive their own children to the games for the remainder of the season due to Covid restrictions and contact tracing on the bus. Please drive your child only and do not share rides as this does not cut down on the number of individuals your child has been exposed to. If you would like to drive your child to the game, please be at the back grade school parking lot by the junior high door at 2:45 tomorrow when players are released from school. Players do not need to be signed out through the office. If you are not able to drive your child, they will be allowed to ride the bus.

Yesterday, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker announced masks will be required for students, teachers and staff at pre-kindergarten-12th grade schools. The new measure is part of the state’s ongoing effort to combat a new surge as the Delta variant rapidly spreads. The mask requirement is inclusive of youth sports and activities, with masks now required for all indoor extracurriculars and sports. In line with CDC guidance, masks are not required for activities outdoors where transmission risks and rates are lower. Yesterday’s announcement differs from the reopening plan our school district recently adopted. At this time, the Board of Education will meet to review the new rules and will be communicating with you any changes as soon as possible. Thank you for your support of our students, and I look forward to a new school year!
