All Carrier Mills-Stonefort Unit 2 Students will be dismissed tomorrow at 1:45 pm. Those parents who signed the elementary school permission slip may pick up students at 11:00 to get ready for the Halloween Party. Students should return to school at 12:20 for the costume parade and judging. Halloween Parties will follow and end at 1:45 pm.
The uptown trunk or treat will be on Saturday, October 29 from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm. Trick or Treat is on October 29 from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Come eat a taco dinner and see a show! Tickets for the Fall Play, Mystery on 13th Street, are on sale. Adult tickets are $15, and student tickets (K and up) are $10. The ticket is for both the dinner and show. The dinner begins at 6:00pm in the Grade School Cafeteria on Friday, November 11. The show begins at 7:00pm in the Grade School Gym on Friday, November 11. Email Mr. Long at clong@cmsfcats.org for your tickets. Let him know if you want a reserved seat near the front.

On October 3, the Carrier Mills-Stonefort Teachers will receive training on proper procedures in the event of an active threat. On October 4, all students grades 6-12 will receive training as well. After the training is completed, the school district will hold active threat drills to practice the procedures taught during the training. The state of Illinois requires the school district to give parents/guardians the option to opt their student out of the active threat drills. If you DO NOT want your child to participate in the active threat drills, please call the school your student attends to receive a copy of the opt-out form. The form will need to be signed and returned for your child to NOT participate in the drill. All parents and students will be informed on the dates of the drills. If you choose to opt-out your child will be moved to an alternate location in the school building and will not participate in the drill.

Fall Pre-K Screenings will be held on October 4 and 5. Please call the grade school secretary, Mrs. Beth Dillard, to schedule an appointment for screening. Your child must be age 3 by the date of the screening to be eligible for pre-k.

This is a reminder that students in Kindergarten, 6th grade, 9th Grade and any student attending an IL school for the first time must turn in a School Physical with up-to-date immunization records by October 15th. All Kindergarten and new students attending an IL school for the first time must turn in an Eye Exam by October 15th. The Carrier Mills-Stonefort High School volleyball game on Thursday, September 1st has been moved to Jonesboro Elementary. This is due to an issue with Cobden’s gym. Start time is the same.

Carrier Mills-Stonefort Schools will be in session beginning Wednesday, August 10. School hours are 8:00 am-3:00 pm. All Elementary School Students should enter the school building at the front doors only. The doors will be open at 7:30 am. Students will not be allowed to enter any other door unless accompanied by a staff member. For the safety of all school children, parents/guardians will not be allowed to enter the school building unless authorized by a staff member. If a parent/guardian needs access into the building, he or she should go directly to the main office. Elementary students who eat breakfast should go directly to the cafeteria. Students who do not eat breakfast should enter the front doors and go directly to the gym. All elementary school breakfast and lunch will be served in the cafeteria this year. All high school students should enter the building at the front doors. The doors will be open at 7:30 am. A grab and go breakfast will be provided to high school students.
The Carrier Mills-Stonefort Elementary School will host Meet the Teacher Night on Monday, August 8 from 5:00-6:00 pm. Students can meet their teacher and drop off supplies. During Meet the Teacher Night, students can also participate in our free school supply shop in the gym. Students can come into the gym and pick out a new backpack as well as find all of the supplies on their list. Starting at 6:00 pm, please join us for this year's Back to School Bash in front of the elementary school. We will have free food, free physicals, free haircuts, lots of giveaways for kids and adults, as well as games and fun for your kids. We hope you will join us for these events while we welcome your children back for a great school year.
